White Tara Fire Puja

10:00 am Sunday, March 16, 2025

We have a rare and incredibly auspicious opportunity to attend a White Tara Fire Puja on Sunday, March 16, at 10 am. All are welcome! We will serve a light lunch following the puja.

This special puja will be the culminating event of a week-long White Tara retreat, led by Geshe Sangpo.

The retreat participants are immersing themselves in White Tara practice for a full week, working to recite 100,000 Tara mantras, for the purpose of coming closer to the deity.  The fire puja at the end of the retreat is for purifying any mistakes during the retreat, and for increasing the merit.

Bring a camp chair! We will be outdoors and there are limited chairs.

MORE ABOUT THE WHITE TARA RETREAT AND FIRE PUJA:

We are very excited that, for the first time in our history, we have offered a week-long retreat in our own gompa.  It is amazing that we had the karma for all the necessary conditions to come together for this retreat - the initiation from a qualified master, a teacher to lead the retreat, a place to hold it, and students who are able to devote a week of their lives to the retreat. And Geshe Sangpo very kindly opened the practice so that those who could not do the full week, but wanted to be part of this practice, could join in for just a few sessions.

There are many other center members who are creating great merit by supporting the retreat, either through volunteer efforts or financial sponsorships.

There is also great merit in attending the fire puja, an elaborate, colorful ritual that involves offering more than a dozen substances to be burned in the fire.  Everyone is encouraged to attend!
